Smile My first XJ Super V8

Hi everyone. I'll be adding my new (to me) 2005 Radiance Red XJ Super V8 to my garage. Just purchased and waiting to arrive. I've done quite a bit of research before buying and I can't wait to get my hands on her. Carfax priced it @ $510 above retail and Autocheck rated it a 92. The Jaguar Service manager rated it an 8.5 out of 10.

Much of the research was done on this forum and I want to extend my gratitude to all who've shared there expertise, experience and advice.

She's fully loaded, 68000 miles, two owner. The first owner had all service records but the second owner did not. Hence, I will be doing several maintenance tasks once it arrives.

Power steering additive to quiet a pinion squeak. Does anyone no the additive that's used? And can I simply remove some PS fluid and top off with the additive?

I'll replace the tranny fluid to rid the car of the infamous 'whoop' on hard acceleration.

Ill have the brake fluid flushed at the dealership. Not sure if this is a diy task. I'm a {former} certified mechanic but old school and reduced work space.

I'll take it in for an injector cleaning vs. the injector cleaning additive and probably do the induction cleaning myself.

Will change the fuel filter and oil.
These are all recommended by the dealership where I had it inspected.

Tires are blizzaks, so unnecessarily loud ride, even though I live in Minnesota. I may keep them on and occasionally drive it when the salt is gone from the road. alternatively I may just store until spring. At a minimum I will have the wheels balanced.

I'm readying my 2006 LUMPed VDP for sale. I hate to part with it but need the room and the warden says it has to go.

I would like to purchase a diagnostic tool that allows me to clear codes and also has software that identifies the part and location of a defect. Can anyone recommend a model?

Again, thank you to this forum. I wouldn't have been able to do my due diligence without your help. Photos to follow

Hi Sean,
Here is the reference for the additive and procedure.
Concerning a diag tool, the most powerful material is the Mongoose associated to the IDS-SDD software. You have to make your mind re. purchasing the original Mongoose or a chinese clone. Look at the relevant thread:

My twin! Strangely enough, I flew up to Minneapolis to buy my 05 last August. I think she likes it here in TX a little better. Enjoy your new car! I recently changed the tranny fluid and pan w/ filter myself on jack stands at 63k miles, you might also consider it on the to-do list. $275 for the kit from The CTSC - ZF Parts

Thank H20Boy. Beats the dealer estimate by a couple hundred dollars. I appreciate the help and the link.

What surprises me is a 2006 car being lumped. Did the existing Jaguar V8 not make it ?

My mistake (typo) the LUMP I was referring to was my 1986 VDP, not 2006

Default Anyone know where to buy Jaguar Power Steering Additive For PAS Rack

I looked online and was only able to find it on eBay UK and they don't ship overseas. As I'm here in the US....
the PSA is C2S 48887.

Can anyone steer me (no pun intended) to a vendor? Preferably one who supports JCNA?

Much appreciated

I don't see how you could not be crazy about it.

I am completely enamoured of mine, but, of course, it hasn't snapped at me yet.

@Sean

Congrats. You will love the Super V8. Shame you have to get rid of your Series III...... They usually play well together :-)

You can get it for cheap at Terrysjag.com about 8 bucks, ships quick as well. Once you pour it in work your steering wheel side to side while revving the engine a bit. My squeak started to diminish and completely went away in 2 weeks. I was also a low on fluid so I added Mobil 1 ATF fluid. Completely silent.
