Default $56 of bird seed

I don’t intend to use my recently acquired 2014 XJL Supercharged as a winter car, but I intend to use it as a car and it is winter around here.

I have a Lincoln Navigator on Bridgestone Blizzaks, so I’m prepared for snow-mageden.

But I’d rather drive the Jaguar.

So I pulled an old-school trick out and was pleasantly surprised to see that physics still works.
I bought 4 50lb bags of bird seed for $14 each... $56 total. The photo below shows me experimenting in our yard. The grade is pretty steep, much more than the photo indicates. Look closely and you’ll see my first, failed effort on 275/35-20 all-seasons. The tracks stop very short. Then I put the birdseed in the trunk and the car walked right up the grade.Oh, and come Spring, we’ll have some happy birds!

If you are really allergic to changing tires, they now have 4 season tires. They do what "all" seasons were supposed to do, but actually work decently in the winter.

I’m not allergic, I change all 4 on my wife’s BMW 535 xi wagon, our 911 C4S as the summer tires wouldn’t be any good from December until late March, and the Navigator. I ran snows on my 550i too prior to selling it for the Jaguar. But I am fatigued.

So the Jag makes do with all-seasons as you said, but it does much better with a little weight.

Yep weight is king I carry 320lbs (4 80lb bags, $20.00 worth.) of corn in my pick up for weight. In the spring we have happy deer, bunnies, squirrels and crows.
I was forced to drive my XKR last winter when my previous winter vehicle swallowed it's tongue, I had 3 80lb bags of corn in the boot. With Blizzaks and the extra weight it went anywhere in 3" of snow.

You could try three bags of builders ballast, if the worse came to the worse you could also split them open and throw it under the tyres .
