How much the stain has "set" will determine the methods you may need to take to remove it. Hopefully a little bug and tar and your fingernail. Spray some water and baking soda solution (about 75/25 mix) to neutralize the acid in the dookie.

But if it has been baked on and leaves an acid-rain like residual, you will have to get more aggressive. Starting at the conservative end of things, try a little cleaner wax and terry cloth applicator. If that doesn't do it, move up to a polishing compound, and then a rubbing compound if absolutely needed. Just be careful with the latter 2, don't use much force or you will make it worse.

If non of that works, then you will have to wet sand or machine buff.

thanks chris......im inclined to estimate that it is the worse case scenario ...its look deep acidec swirl marks are there as well....I should bring it to a body shop to have it wet sand or buffed.last time i will ever wash and not put on wax.

if it is a small area and your are feeling brave, do the following:

1) clean with the baking soda solution. Don't skip this step - must neutralize that acid.
2) Soak the area with a spray bottle and keep it handy, or have a garden hose with a little bit of water flow on and near your work area
3) Use some 1000 or 1500 (even 2000 grit if you want to be even safer) grit wet sandpaper and very lightly go over the area. Soak the sandpaper in some soapy water for a minute or so. The idea is to take off as little clear coat as possible but remove the blemish. Lightly sand the area, always keeping it wet or position the hose so a steady stream flows over the area. Again, take off as little as possible. Be extremely careful if there are any ridges, you can go right through the paint quick on a ridge.

4) dry it off and apply the rubbing compound gently, remove and use the polishing compound, then remove and wax the area. Results will be better with a machine but it can be done by hand. Use a terry cloth applicator for the compounds and then a foam applicator for the wax. The idea is to gradually reduce the abrasives to bring it back to a smooth shine.

Since this thread is about removing stains, how about the "sticky shadow" that remains after someone "shaves" their car? (removes the badges from the rear).

Is there any household solutions to remove the caked on goo that will be underneath it? Looking for something cheap that won't damage/scratch the paint.

You can use "Bug and Tar" which is essentially just kerosene. Soak it and rub it off with your finger/fingernail or a microfiber towel. Then wash it immediately and re-wax the area.

Products like "Goo Gone" will also do the job, you just want to make sure you limit the appliction to the smallest area you can and make sure you wash it thoroughly aftward to avoid streaking/discoloration.

Well went to shucks today and wanted to buy some "bug and tar". Told the store manager what I needed it for and he said; "Don't buy that, this will work better". He handed me goo gone instead.

Removed the little "AWD" badge to test it out. Must of rubbed and tried to get the stuff off for 30 mins without success

Guess I should of stuck with the bug and tar LOL

Did remove part of my "invisible bra"...Just the part on my driver's rearview mirror (it was coming off around the edges).... Used the Goo Gone on that and it worked like a charm!!! (weird that it worked there, but not on the rear)???

goo-b-gone worked great for anything I've needed to use it on. Bug and tar remover has worked well for me as well.

Did you get the poop off your car or no?
