Hey guys I just noticed today my xj started overheating at idle , all leaks were repaired bone dry , it only climbs at idle. no matter what I pressed to normally kick on the fan it did not kick on at all , should I just replace the unit or could there be another issue with the fan ? Electrical maybe I’m not sure which fuse controls the fan /relay ... any help please !

Open the fuse box under your hood. You will then see a silver thin metal tab which is the tab that is used to jump start your car. That tab is also attached to a 100amp MIDI LittleFuse Fuse. Copy and paste it and that is what you’ll need. All you’ll have to do is just get a small little socket I can’t remember the size but I’m thinking a 8mm and remove the 2 nuts and take off the little tab, then use a lil meddle nose pliers to remove the little fuse. That fuse is your fan fuse. It happened to me twice tryna jump start someone. So I just purchased a few of them for keeps.

I always considered that tiny tab was mostly for loading the battery or powering the electronic including trunk lock when battery was dead... for jump starting I would be quite reluctant to use it...The fact you say the fuse blows seems to confirm...
