Default 2011 XJL Drivers side sun visor with illumination

Has anyone ever had their visor just snap inside and need to be replaced? Were you able to find a used one or is the only way to get another via the dealership? I hate to be so wasteful but it isn’t repairable and I really need a new one since this hangs down now.

thanks!

I had the passenger side visor snap the plastic parts inside. It would just flop around hanging in the way wile driving. Removed the visor removed the cover (involves taking out the stitching) at the hinged end. Tried gluing the two plastic parts that had separated along the seam. Didn't hold up. Then used a small, fat head screw and washer and thin bolt just long enough to hold the plastic parts together over the hinge piece. Worked well. Pulled back the retracted cloth cover and had a friends Mum stitch it back for me (involved a small gift for her kindness) works a charm. Saved myself $500 or so from the dealer and $275 from the internet.
I will say I've had a series of low end and high end cars throughout my life and none have had sun visor or water pump failures. That includes my other Jaguar the 66 E type. What a shame that my 2014 had me gluing, sewing it back together!

Isn’t that a shame? This is my first Jaguar but my father had many. He also had an early E Type and it was perfect! This is the first car I’ve had this happen to. My 5 year old daughter also pulled the handle on her door too hard and now it is broken. I am about ready to repair and sell the car. I adore it but it’s not holding up well. I’m very sad. Great to know about the fix. I’ll share with my husband, he’s quite handy and can even sew! Thank you!

I have owned 68 vehicles in my lifetime and my 2011 XJL Supercharged had, hands down, the most things go wrong, both minor nuisances and major catastrophes, of any vehicle I've ever owned which is why I am now a former owner.
