2012 xx8: what are the concerns
My 308 is getting long in the tooth. Not miles, Age. an independent dealer down the street has an X351 with 48,000 miles for sale at $36,000. The car was originally sold and driven in coral gables Florida.
I am very active on the X308 forum, still it has taken three years to understand all the problems and pitfalls with that model. I need some help on determining what are the issues on a 2012 model. Locally, I have a very reliable dealer and 10 years of experience and friendship with the service manager; a very good independent; and I do most of the work myself.
With What should I be concerned?

The only real issue on these cars is the roof popping problem that came up in 2011 and was the subject of a very long thread over subsequent months. It is still possible for cars to have escaped any Jaguar service action to deal with the problem. I can tell you that this even involved the production line being halted until a fix had been developed.
Apart from this, my local independent who service my X350 car (the previous model) tell me they are an excellent car in all other aspects. I think a few early cars suffered blank-outs of the virtual instruments display, but these were all fixed under warranty. I asked about this model at the independent, as I am considering an X351 for my next car as my current X350 is on 103k miles now. At the moment, it is a money problem so maybe next year !
One good aspect is the air suspension is only on the rear, the fronts are coil springs. Repairs to the air system are the one bugbear of the X350 due to the high cost of spares.
