Alas, the inevitable happened to me on the way home last night in my 2013 XJ 3.0L AWD 128k miles, poofing white smoke from the hood, coolant smell and water dump on the shoulder since I immediately stopped and waited for a tow truck. I bought this car with 125k miles and it was inspected Aug 22 by a dealer with two small leaks corrected with new thermostat hoses (C2Z26930 and C2Z29258) between coolant reservoir and throttle housing. I don’t know if or when the water pump was replaced.
Haven’t heard from the shop on compression test yet, but I’m trying to build a good list of best parts for water pump, hoses and fittings. Please tell me if anyone has experience with the aluminum connector tube and crossover tubes and the best supplier?? I really don’t want to see this failure again.
Thanks!
Optional: Supercharger snout replacement with coupler would be nice since I have rattling every time I turn it off. Seems like a good opportunity to get it done, right?
Got my car back from the shop today! Looks like leak was isolated to the vent hose C2D6362 from the coolant reservoir to the upper coolant pipe AJ813917. Didn’t seem like this shop was keen on replacing the pump and associated hoses since all checked out at this time. I’ll have to dig into the supercharger at some point with the rattling coupler, so I’ll plan to knock it out with a more willing shop!

apparently 10 years is the lifetime of this hose!
Yep, I have had one and one only coolant system leak/problem on my F-Type and guess what it was this hose!
One of the two thin tubes at the upper coolant pipe end cracked/split and leaked, and when I took it off and replaced it with a new part it was so brittle it crumbled in my hands and both connectors at that end snapped off completely when I tried to pry them off.
The car was about five years old at the time so I would say 10 years is a good run for this hose and I would class replacing it as a routine maintenance item, especially as it's cheap and easy to replace.
