Default 2013 XJ question

I was wondering something today after I finally setup the JAG we bought Wednesday, in our 2012 Infinity M37 we can set "Reminders" for Tires, Oil changes, Oil Filter and "Other" but I can't find anyplace on the 2013 XJ to do that. Does this feature not exist in a high end car like the XJ ? Any ideas??

Ken, unfortunately, there is no option like that. Your best bet would be to get a sticky note and write down the info that you are after and then store it say in the lid of the center console. The car does not even have a count down to say that you are needing an oil change in 200 miles. You just get a general "Your car needs service" message. What is worse, once you get that message, you cannot delete it unless you either take it to the dealership or you get a very nice code reader.

Well, I did actually find a APP that does have these type of reminders! You can add in cars and up to 8-10 items to monitor then if you want more you just pay $5.99 to add in a whole lot! It does this based on your miles traveled, or dates......seems like it might be just what I am looking for! Sure beats the heck out of a STICKEY NOTE on the DASH! it is called Simply Auto in the Google Play Store

Ken, for oil changes, I just look at the ODO and divide it by 7500. I then know if I am getting close to an oil change. I don't worry about the 1 year requirement as I am driving well over 7500 miles a year. Then you rotate your tires at the same time as the oil. Kinda like the tranny fluid change. are you at 60K miles, time for a change. You hit 120K, time again. I guess these are simple things to keep rolling around in my head when it comes to the car.

Am I missing something here? I examined the features in the "Simply Auto" app, and it appears that you must manually enter the mileage into your phone. How is this different than writing down a number on a piece of paper kept in your Owners Manual wallet? This number won't disappear if you lose you phone or the app crashes. Seriously ... we need software to remind us to service our cars? This forum is comprised of enthusiasts, not people that can't tell the difference between coolant and brake odors.

I use this newfangled thing called a spreadsheet. One step up from a piece of paper.

You do have to enter the ORIG mileage for each item you wish to monitor, but the APP keeps track of your mileage somehow. I saw this yesterday when the wife took the car, it added 29 miles to the speedo. So I am pretty sure it calculates all of it. And no, I am not a Techno geek, I just do not want an item missed that could of been prevented by an alarm or warning on my car to remind me! Maybe when you reach 75 you will think the same..........
