Default 2014 XJL Leaper hood ornament installation in Atlanta

I bought a leaper hood ornament for my 2014 XJL.
would anyone know where in the Atlanta area I can get it installed. Most body shops don't want to mess with it.

A dealer will install it if it is a Jaguar part. you can go to Topix and get the installation directions.

Topix is the website that Jaguar owners and shops use for information, owner info, and workshop manuals. Owners can access for free some areas like accessory installation directions, and Jaguar dealer technicians use for repair procedures. https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topi...cle/lookupForm

If I had that Leaper, I would keep it on my desk and use it for a paper weight. Or mount it on a doorstop.

I suspect that a Jaguar dealer would refuse to install it because the X351 XJ never came from the factory with the Leaper hood (bonnet) ornament. That ornament is a pedestrian safety hazard and a Jaguar dealer would not want the potential liability.

Having a Leaper on the hood will also reduce the resale value because most XJ buyers don't want it. The hole in the aluminum hood would have to be repaired and the entire hood repainted.

Your car, your money, your choice.

+1 on your car! If you like it go for it. They generally have little resale value anyways with or without leapers. And a bunch of them with no leapers are about to hit the markets in the U.S. if our current situation continues into the fall.

I had bought a Leaper from my Jaguar dealer before my XJ arrived and the dealer Hennessy Jaguar North Atlanta would have installed it for me. But when I saw the car I couldn't bring myself to destroy the lines. So Hennessy gave me full credit for the return and in it's place I purchased and installed the exhaust tall pipe finishers.

in all honesty, the leaper looked perfect on older models, but for some reason it just doesnt sit right with the new ones.

Yes Stuart had several sets made and offered me a set, but on examination, I felt that there were some narrow angles that might cause some additional back pressure so I passed on them, but they did look good.

These are Porsche tips. They attach in the same way as the standard tips - right at the end, same bore, so there is no additional restriction to gas flow.

OBC John,

I love the look of your quad pipes and I'm searching options here in the US. Can you confirm the ID of the new tips is 63mm (2.5" to the US luddites)?

Many thanks in advance,

wombat

I can check the o/d of the exhaust but without taking them off I can't measure the i/d of the tips themselves. When I fitted them I had to have two adaptors made up to go from the exhaust o/d and the tip i/d. I'll try and find my original order for them which will have the dimensions.

Really don't know. I'll take a PIC of the markings etched into the stainless steel and you can check yourself.

Bear with me, both. Been raining here for a couple of days and I want the ground to be dry if I've got to lie on it!
