If APPLE CARPLAY IS NOT FUNCTIONAL...........Why the heck would I get it???? I've a scheduled appointment for next wednesday. Seems I'd be wasting my time and theirs.

2017 XJL with the 8" screen.

I figure I don't understand what I'd get out of this. Like thick in the head about this.

Hi All,

Just had the H251 update done on my wife's 2017 F-Pace, it was in the shop anyway for it's annual service. The update is great! Navigation is now up to 2019 standard, no selecting a different page just to get 0-9 etc. Car play and everything works as advertised. The only problem I had was that the screen was stuck in "night mode", a quick wizz through the settings menu sorted that out.

PS 10.1" screen

I got my infotainment system updated to the latest firmware but still do not have car play or Android Auto. I was told there are two versions of the 2017 XJ, the update includes those two features for one version but not for the other version that I seem to have. I was told they are still working on it and do expect to release it but there is no timeline as of yet.

There doesn't seem to be anyway to determine which version of the 2017 XJ you have, they just do the latest update and then see of those new features are there, I doubt this is the case but that is the answer I got from the service rep at the dealership.

I have a 2017 XJL with 8" Touch Pro infotainment system

Thanks for the info.

On the bright side, at least you didn't end up with a bricked ICTP system

More grist for the mill, from an email to F-Pace owners re the ACP/AA updates,

"This key update allows you to enjoy higher levels of connectivity, entertainment and convenience with the Smartphone Pack*”

*The Smartphone Pack is only available for vehicles equipped with either a 10" Touch Pro or 10" Touch Pro Dual View touchscreen, a SIM slot and front On-The-Go-enabled USB ports."

And without the Smartphone Pack, no ACP/AA even with the latest ICTP update. This would seem to rule out ACP/AA for us orphaned 8" ICTP owners.

Same experience for me. But check your NAV now. It likely has some limited NAV voice command functionality that you didn’t have before like “navigate to home.” But not all the way like ‘navigate to nearest Starbucks”

I tested mine and you are correct, it doesn't work any longer. It does nothing.

Give it a few seconds. I find the response delayed since the update, but it does respond. How else would I have discovered that the commands “navigate to home” or “cancel route guidance” now work whereas I previously had zero NAV voice control before? Hope yours works.

Maybe it only works while in navigation but it used to work from the home screen. It no longer works as it used to.

I am in a loaner F-Pace and the button works no matter the screen. Mine is back at the dealership for them to fix it. The voice assistance button doesn't work on mine no matter how long you wait or which screen you are using it.
I will report back once they figure it out.

Ok, tested my car today and Navigation voice is back along with the voice assistance button.
The technician informed me that when they initially did the update that it wasn't set on "English" for the voice and that's what caused the confusion.
I had it set on "English (UK)" and Feedback accent on "British English"

Did everything work out? Were they able to update?

I took my 2017 XJL in to the dealership on Friday to see if they can fix the issue that came up with with the voice commands no longer working after getting the latest update. The dealership said I should have gotten Car play and Android out if the climate controls are on my screen, which they are.

I'm guessing they are going to reflash the update today.

For the dealer to enable the Smartphone Pack for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, there are three criteria;

Must have InControl Touch Pro (not InControl Touch)
Must have 10.2" widescreen (not 8" standard screen)
Must have a SIM or HDMI socket in the panel (not just the two USB's)

If you don't have all three things, they cannot do it for you.

Well this is depressing, I've got it all except the 10 Inch screen... Now I am sad

I'm sad too. I've got touch-pro and a 10.2" screen, but - as you can guess - no SIM or HDMI. I've given up hope after searching all kinds of forums, threads en posts.
A question I have in addition: Is this reason why I can't have apple carplay or android the same as why I don't can see anything of Jaguar Incontrol apps in my car? I have an account and installed the app on my Iphone XR but can't see any possibility to get the apps on my car-screen. When I connect my phone to the car with bluetooth or USB-cable I can use the music stored on the phone to play in the car. I can also pair the phone, but further nothing.

It is possible to retrofit the 'High' panel with HDMI &/or SIM, and turn on the Smartphone Pack.

But a dealer cannot do it for you. I can do it, there are others that can do it, I don't know anyone near to you who could though.

Not all cars had the InControl Apps enabled from the factory either, but TBH you are not missing much, the only App that was worth anything was Spotify, but it's no longer supported.
