When I got my 16 XJL last April and took it in for the first service, they were trying hard to upsell me on the new update. He told me that they just got the clearance for the 16 models and it was a big update and etc.

They wanted $500 for it so I declined. I actually had documented issues with their crappy InControl Spotify app, but even then they wouldn't update me to the newer version without paying. After having multiple disagreements with this dealership and them not being professional (parking my car into a plant that scratched it, leaning tires against my car, etc) I decided it wasn't worth my time.

Hello Cambo, I did some research after I read your message. I contacted a Jaguar-specialist, not a dealership. He says that there is indeed a possibility in upgrading the hardware but that he cannot complete the entire upgrade due to software limitations. It seems that it's necessary to change settings in a config file (or something like that) where only a dealership has access to. For me it feels like: The dealership can do it, but isn't willing to do and the specialist is willing to do fix it for me but can't.

Do you have something like an instruction or manual how to complete an upgrade of te UIP if the conclusion of the specialist in the Netherlands i contacted is not right?
Maybe it can help him to fix the upgrade.

Every kind of help will be very appreciated

But a dealer cannot do it for you. I can do it, there are others that can do it, I don't know anyone near to you who could though.

Not all cars had the InControl Apps enabled from the factory either, but TBH you are not missing much, the only App that was worth anything was Spotify, but it's no longer supported.

Dear Cambo, after your hopeful post I did a lot of research. I found a company that dares to do the hardware adjustment but indicates that it runs into software limitations. Another company says it can adjust the CCF but needs to know the correct parameters. So it seems that a solution is getting closer but that Jaguar specialists are also waiting for someone who has already done the exact same trick and wants to explain it to them. Is it possible - possibly for a reward - that you indicate how the upgrade of the UIP should be performed? Thank you very much.

This thread was about getting an OEM update, not a third party hack.

H251 was worded confusingly, and implied that all cars with InControl Touch Pro could be upgraded by the dealer, but it turns out that there is a lone exception; the early X351 InControl Touch Pro uniquely has an 8" screen, and cannot be updated.

Hi,

I am looking for your help.

I see that you say that you are able to add a HDMI slot or SIM slot so that I can activate the smartphone pack.

I am in the north east or England. Where are you based?

Thanks, Paul

Default Trouble in Paradise

Just dropped off my 2016 XF R-Sport for the smartphone pack update and had to actually leave my baby there. They sent me on my way with a loaner. Seems that the update has caused the on board computer or whatever to shutdown and the vehicle is totally inoperable. Don’t know what happen really. I have to the 10” infotainment incontrol touch pro with the usb, SIM card, and hdmi connectors. I actually like the old interface design just want to add apple carplay. Let’s see what happens.

Dropping my 2016 XJ at the dealer next week for annual service and the sw upgrade you all are talking about. Sounds like Im not getting Android Auto since I have the 8" screen. Thats a real bummer. I thought that even the Jaguar App would bring a few more items to the display, not just the default contacts, calendar and music. Pretty lame...

Hi guys,

Has anybody successfully changed the UIP? I changed my XJL's display to 10.25 inch. Unfortunately, I still can't use CarPlay. I modified the CCF "Connect and View" value to "mySPIN, CarPlay and Android Auto". I modified 448 bytes, too. But it didn't change anything.

I found interface for High-Line upgrade on eBay(https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Ran...E/233258418537), My Jag doesn't have a Telemetric module. So, if I'll modify 467 bytes to "High line(without SIM)", will I be able to use HDMI on media source? I think it's very important to be able to use this. (Of course I'll need the APIX harness from FIMC.)

The Mid/High-Line connector is C3ME118AB. It is connected to the IMC by C4MA01C. Low-Line and they are different. C4MA01C is 8 pins and C3ME118AB is 6 pins. There is no terminal. It seems to be connected directly. Anyone have any information on HSD Wire that can connect them?

I believe this is the cable you're looking for:
Original cable number is T4N20692 and it is about 3 meters long and goes to the C4MA01C on the IMC.

There is a catch with this cable though, on the UIP side it doesn't have the +12V (pin 5) and GND (pin 6) wires that the Mid/High-Line UIP needs on the
C3ME118AB connector so if your going to switch from Low-line UIP to Mid/High UIP, it looks like you have to wire in pins 5&6 using the wires that make up the green power plug of the Low-Line UIP (Green power plug is only on the Low-Line UIP)

See this post: https://www.xeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=8437

This all looks possible as long as you can get the CCF config right.

I just bought a 2019 F-Pace with ICTP, I love it but when I found out that I couldn't get Apple Carplay/Android Auto because of the Low-line UIP I was not happy. I now understand why the dealer won't just upgrade UIP module in the center console and its because the wiring harness is different from Low to Mid/High UIP, and they'd have to add a harness from the center console to the IMC, pretty much across the car, unless it was manufactured with that package, they just aren't going to rewire your car. Now it doesn't look too bad to DIY it hardware wise but the software/config file seems to be the difficult part.

gloriashield Let me know if you figure out the CCF or anyone else that has. I'm going to do this retrofit as long as I can find someone who got the CCF working for a Mid/High-Line UIP retrofit. Other than my Low-line UIP, my F-Pace meets the criteria for the "Smartphone Pack" that gets me ACP/AA.

@JPace

Thanks for your attention! I think your information will help many owners.

XJL needs 1-meter extension cable. I installed the HSD cable yesterday. Cameron helped me. He gave me with 3-meters extension cable and 1-meter cable. It starts in trunk and passes under the driver's seat. This is the shortest route. But 3 meters cable was little bit short.

CarPlay is doing well now. I'm very happy.
