Any way to update the infotainment system?

Just a guess here......, but the Infotainment is tied to the Vin, so it is similar to getting 22's on a 20" rim base.....tied to vin, and they need to recalibrate for the odometer. In this case, to pull a new one in that is different will probably have a balk from JLR due to Vin and build tie in. "Again just a guess"!!!!! Let us know how you make out though. Thanks

Waiting for Cambo to chime in, he would know for sure and if it can be done what would be needed to do it. But I recall reading somewhere that it is possible to upgrade the earliest system to the next system after that, but that's it, the latest systems are quite different and it's not possible to upgrade to them without massive hardware, wiring and software changes.

There are two types of infotainment system in the F-Type (and other JLR vehicles since 2012 or so), the IAM2.1 system and the NGI/NLI system.
IAM2.1 was used on all F-Types up to 2015MY and the Meridian Surround cars in 2016MY.
The NGI/NLI system was introduced in 2016MY on the cars with the base or 380W Meridian system, and then all systems from 2017MY.
One way to tell the difference, apart from the layout on the touchscreen, is the maps on IAM2.1 are loaded via USB, the NGI / NLI maps are on SD cards. (Some exceptions for Asian and African market vehicles, but UK, EU, AUS, USA/CAN are like that).
You cannot update an IAM2.1 system to the NGI/ NLI, they are totally different.
You cannot update an NLI to NGI either.
Well you could, but the costs involved and pulling the whole car apart to do it make or not feasible.
