Default 2016 Jaguar XJL AWD 3.0 V-6 Rear Wheels

I have an XJL with 19” wheels. I need to know what size the wheels are for the back tires. The front wheels are 19 x 8.5. Since the back tires are wider than the front, are the wheels on the back wider as well? Also, I understand the size of the wheel is locate on the inside of the rim, hidden by the tire. Is there any other location on the wheel that indicates the wheel size without having to remove the tire from the wheel? Thanks.

If the rear tyres really are wider than the fronts (easy to check, just look at the sizes displayed on them) then it is odds on that the rear wheels are also wider than the fronts as this is standard practice for "staggered" set-ups.
No need to take the tyre off the rim, the wheel size will be shown on the inside of the wheel. With cast wheels it will be cast into one of the spokes, with forged wheels it will have a sticker or engraving on the barrel of the wheel.

From the 2015 Jaguar World Wide Brochure:

ALLOY WHEEL SIZE “9.0J x 19" / 10.0J x 19"
TYRE SIZE 245/45ZR19 / 275/40ZR19

Default Hopefully, One Last Question on Wheel Size

After all is said and done at my local tire shop, my XJL “came to me” with all four wheels being the same size, that is, 8.5 x 19. So, I now have four matching tires. Knowing that I purchased this car as a Certified Pre Owned Jag, are there any issues I should be aware of with my current setup? Thanks once again to all of those with such a great knowledge base.

It depends on the size of the tyres you now have.
Which way did you go, skinnier tyres on the rear to match the fronts or wider tyres on the fronts to match the rears?
It is odds on they are correct for your wheels (that is within the recommended minimum and maximum widths) but is is vaguely possible they are either too wide or not wide enough.
I'm guessing the tyre shop went with 245/45ZR19 all round which is perfectly OK on 8.5" rims.
If you previously had 275s on the rear (which are arguably too wide for 8.5" rims) you may now have a little less rear traction but probably not as that is mainly down to the type, condition and "quality" of the tyres.
Assuming you have gone from well worn to new tyres and they are decent quality you shouldn't notice any loss of rear traction.

Those wheels are incorrect for the car and should be as I stated above. If this is a true CPO the dealer has to put on the proper wheels and the tires need to have had in excess or 60% tread left. Ask the dealer for a copy of the CPO inspection sheet to verify it is a CPO. There are many things that must be done to qualify as a CPO and the dealer is responsible for making the necessary repairs and that includes verifying that there are no non OEM modifications. Look at items 5 and 81 on the attached CPO brochure. Good luck. BTW the dealer has to present a copy of the CPO checklist to JLR in order to get the CPO certification.

All four tires are Pirelli PZERO NERO P245/45R19 102H and are on the standard Jaguar wheels, all of which are 8.5 x 19.

No X351 Jaguars were delivered with matching wheels at front and rear. They are all staggered.IMHO someone pulled a fast one on you. And are you sure that your XJ is a CPO?

I have the “Jaguar Approved Certified Pre-Owned Delivery Checklist” that is signed by the dealership and acknowledged by myself. When I first drove it home (1,000 miles from where I purchased it), my local Jaguar dealership only recognized the standard warranty. I talked to the folks where I purchased it and they “re-issued” the certification. Two weeks later, my local dealership now showed my warranty certified through the 100,000 warranty and indicated my car is a CPO vehicle. I just sent an email to the manager of the dealership where I purchased the car and included the quote from “XJsss” above. I’ll wait and see what he says. I’ll note that the first indication of tire/wheel issues was when I tried to purchase road hazard insurance from my local Discount Tire store and they told me that the rear tires were not load rated for the XJL. The dealership reimbursed me almost $600 for replacing the rear tires. At that time, I didn’t realize the width issue on the wheels. So, as noted, I’ll wait for a response from the original dealership; for those in the States, I purchased the car from Hoffman Estates Jaguar in Chicago, IL.

DonJ good to hear you are following up on this.IMHO if the dealer says they cannot do anything about replacing all 4 wheels with the OEM wheels your XJ was delivered with I woulds contact Jaguar USA and get them involved. There are times your local dealer would like to help, but are not empowered to. A Jaguar CSR can get authorization and also back charge the dealer in Chicago. Lastly have you run your VIN in the VIN decoder in the "tools" section here in the top black ribbon as it may tell you the wheels that were in the XJ from the factory. Good luck.

Oddly enough, the dealership provided a package of information on the car before buying. One of the items in that package was the original MSRP with the listed options for the car. On that list was 20” Orona wheels; in addition, the door sticker indicates 20” wheels/tires. So, yes, they went the ‘cheap’ route when preparing the car for certification.

It’s probably because the 20” wheels got bent and they replaced them incorrectly with non-staggered 19” rims. I would be okay with the 19” rims as long as they were corrected to be staggered (ie correct width). The 20” rims get bent out of shape more easily. I’ve had three of my 20” rims repaired in 9 months for being bent by potholes and such. I am debating switching to 19” rims in the future myself. The 20” rims are too malleable IMHO.

All the best.

I had a similar experience. About a week after I bought my CPO XJ from a Jaguar dealer in another state, my right rear tire went flat. I used my 12v inflator to pump it back up and drove to my tire shop to get the tire patched. There was nothing wrong with the tire, but the technician showed me where that wheel had previously been repaired and welded near the bead, which is why it was slowly losing air. A CPO Jaguar should not have been sold with a welded wheel, so I notified my salesman, who apologized and had a brand new wheel shipped to my home together with an authorization for payment to my local Jaguar dealer for their labor.

The ride with my 20" staggered Kasuga wheels and Continental DWS06 tires is quiet, smooth and comfortable.
