2019 XJ
Hey all. New member here, but wanted to post to see if anyone had any intel on the 2019 XJ?
Backstory: Long time Benz and Rover owner. Candidly, pretty tired of my Benz and popped into the local BMZ and Jag dealerships this past weekend. They had an absolutely beautiful Green/Beige XJ on the showroom floor. So pretty in fact I was tempted, but asked the salesman when the next body style change was coming and he said 2019. Just some simple Googling states that they are thinking of going fully electric, which I don't think makes sense and will happen immediately. That aside, I can find little to no information on the redesign. Anyone here have any sites that they can point me to? Thanks in advance.

If Jag is stupid enough to go all electric only XJ in 2019, the 2018s and previous would probably increase in value. Jag would also either quickly realize what a f-tard mistake it was or else be on their way to out of business. I guess a lot depends how much Tata wants to lose on them. Ford would not have put up with it.
Nobody really knows what restyle is coming, but it is likely there will be a choice of drive train - diesel, petrol or hybrid. An all-electric XJ is unlikely until sales experience with the I-Pace is gained. All-electric cars are still a tiny percentage of the market even if Elon Musk is trying to make them mainstream. The current XJ style has not been without criticism, (just try getting in the back seat without banging your head !). I reckon any new style will have to acknowledge what Mercedes, Audi and BMW are doing on their top-end saloons, so the very high and bulky rear end is likely to be reduced quite a lot. Also people don't like the very high waist line compared to earlier models.
Yeah going all electric is just going to cut a huge chunk of your target market right out. Maybe an all-electric option on top of regular gas and diesel offerings, but a true Model S style all electric just doesnt seem smart or likely.
Jag is also known for going LONG stretches in between body styles. It wouldnt surprise me if that trend continued another year or 2.

As for the XJ, my 2013 (except for the terrible headlights) looks enough like those in the following years, that I'm happy with it. I guess there's no rush to update it, given the miserable sales numbers of full-sized sedans. BMW, Audi and Mercedes, included.
