Howdy, I just picked up a 2019 XJ, and I am curious about the amber passenger air bag status warning by the interior done lights. I see the sensor will swap from 'off' to 'on' when someone sits in the seat, but is this text always illuminated?

For reference, this is as close as I can find. Difference is, on my '19, the light stays on all the time; not sure if this is how it is designed for my MY. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ag-off-177045/

Sorry can't help as my 2014 does not have that at all?
Must be a later model addition/upgrade.

I had the same thing on my '18. Solved it with a small piece of electrical tape trimmed to size.

Same here. That annoying and generally useless light on my 19 is no longer annoying.

 

It's a strange one!

I checked all 3 today as I shuffled them around the garage for the winter.

On the '12 XJ, the light will extinguish after a few seconds (5?) with, or without, a passenger.
On the '17 F-Pace the light will go away after a few seconds (20-30) UNLESS you have a passenger!!! Then it's continuously on (I put tape over that as well because it annoys the living **** out of me at night).
On the '18 575 the light is on ALL the time. Black tape fix applied.

I do remember asking the dealer if they could fix the F-Pace, and got a shrug of the shoulders. On the 575, I didn't drive it at night for well over a year after I'd bought it (long Covid). At that point I just did the tape fix.

The annoyance is that everytime you look in the rearview mirror you see this orange caption, you know what it is, but still have to read it!
