Default 5L V8 OBD and engine management pdf

Hi all,

I recently found a Landrover document (pdf) called ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS 5.0 V8 ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM that covers MY2010 vehicles here:

https://www.scribd.com/document/3703...agement-System

It only shows a preview, unless you sign up for an account. Has anyone seen this document before, or perhaps obtained it from somewhere else? I am not too keen to sign up for more accounts from places I've never heard of.

I found a similar document for older Jaguar XJ V8 engines (MY2006) here:

http://www.teacher.starenvirotech.co...8%202006MY.pdf

I downloaded it from their site as a quick reference. Is there anything better out there?

Thanks.

I downloaded the file. It seems pretty informative as it explains what it takes to trigger said point. Not super specific in that it doesn't give you "if the difference is more than XXX". It will just say that if the difference exceeds the specified limit (not stating what that limit is). But, it will atleast give you an idea of what you need to look at. I need to read into it further. I am going through their list of manuals and whatnot to see what else I can find. Found a few service manuals for the older cars that I grabbed just to help out some of the other members. Just need to make sure that I cancel the subscription here soon so they don't start dinging my credit card for the $9 a month(not enough there to be willing to pay that much every month.)

Hey Stuart have you posted these documents somewhere?
They seem to be an interesting read for sure.

clubairth1, are you meaning me? I have not posted them anywhere, but if you want a copy, PM me your addy and I will get them your way. now I just need to figure out what the 4 different throttle position circuits mean. It would appear that my P0101 error is because one of the 4 circuits is reading high and this is causing a mismatch. Our cars have throttle position B thru E. Just need to know where each one is. Maybe this book will tell me once I can get through all 222 pages. Granted, I did figure out that if you get the P0101 code, it deals with the left hand side MAF sensor and if you get the P010D code, that it deals with the right hand side MAF sensor. So, atleast I know I have been fiddling with the correct MAF sensor that is part of what I am seeing.

Thanks for taking the lead and downloading it Thermo. If you don’t mind, Id like to PM you too. It definitely looks like it could help answer many forum questions when codes pop up on the old OBD scanner. I’d assume it also applies to the V6 engine.

Nedoerr, this is specific to the V8 as I recall. But, I would think that the logic to control the engine is fairly common and you could get pretty close to figuring things out using this document. Just be ready to put on your engineering hat. It likes to reference you to many other things in the same sentence. Once you read it, you will be needing to read the sentence a second time and have a second copy of the reference open to find what it is looking for. I am thinking about adding a second monitor to my computer to make looking at this easier.

I also have the V8, but it has been mentioned on this forum that the V6 is just the V8 with two cylinders deleted. If so, then the document may appeal to non-V8 owners as well.
