Exclamation Adaptive Dynamic Fault XJ 2013

Hello fellow Jag members,
I have a Jag XJ Portfolio 2013.
When we have real heavy rain up here in Manchester I have an iuusue with my display radio etc cutting out the hole dash goes blank for 2-3 seconds and then it all comes back on with an error code then flashes again and it all comes back to normal, it is quite scary I am sorry I dont know the error fault it all happened very quickly and I am driving so my eyes are on the road.
I found the driver side bnnet rain vent full of mud and the same side drivers seal at the bottom on the windscreen area the Velcro holding down the seal had come away so I superglued it backdown. It may be possible that the real heavy rain can make its way over to the fuse box under the bonnet by means of the cover over the engine? time will tell.
I checked the fuses in the boot and under the bonnet, I cleaned all the fuses in the boot a lot of them were rusty in colour to some degree. I had the boot open for several hours as I messed around. after cleaning the fuses when I started the car I have the error code Adaptive Dynamic Fault (this was not present before ever) I presumed it may be the battery so I took the car for a 2 hour drive some 50 miles hoping the battery had lost some charge, I still have the fault

Has any one had this issue before?

As always start at the beginning. What is the resting voltage of the car after it has sat all night?
Can you scan the car for codes? Without codes there is no way to help.
Do you have a scanner? What is the make and model as other than the Jaguar SDD system most can't see as deep into the car.
Your from the UK so I think you have a Diesel be sure to post that when asking questions.

12.1V is very low for x351 XJ. There are lot of power hungry systems running up when you start the car and one known sympthon for weak battery is short black out after start of the engine.

Agree with Vasara. Start with the simple things.
Jaguar wants 12.6 VDC after the car has sat all night.
How old is your battery? I would plan to swap it out.

Yes possibly. You bring up a good suggestion as you have now filled in more details. With so few miles driven a year I would for sure get the CTEK maintainer and keep the car plugged in.
Just good insurance and we have many members who did this and then had little to no problems going forward.

In fact the last time I was at a JLR dealer ALL the cars and LR were plugged in to CTEK's on the showroom floor. That sealed it for me. If Jaguar does it from brand new then it is a good thing to do.

Surprisingly my 2014 XJR has been flawless with no electrical problems and I don't know why? My factory battery was finally replaced after 10.5 years. Just because I have never had a battery last that long before. It still was apparently working fine. I also never lock the car and both key FOBS are hung up within 20' of the car. I have left the car at the airport for over 6 weeks and it started right up and never even gave a low battery error.

Hi Clubairth1,

Sorry to ask but you are very knowledgeable would you use a 12v or 24v battery charger? As I do not have a driveway or garage ☹ I am going to buy a portable charger I am wondering what is best and would the Amp of the charger make a difference?

12V, get one specific for automotive batteries.

Get a CTEK 40-206. Includes an AGM mode. I also suggest the CTEK extension cord.

There is a Jaguar branded CTEK option available from the dealership. Especially suited for cold temperature storage. Many of us have permanently installed our CTEK maintenance chargers for significantly less money than the Jaguar option. Search for CTEK in the forum archives to see the process. The only caveat is to use a body ground stud versus the battery ground terminal. Otherwise interferes with the battery maintenance system (BMS). There are several convenient choices in the trunk near the battery.

Glad you got one!
They are only about $90 in the US so not too expensive. The ones with the Jaguar label are the same unit just more money. So avoid those.

We have a large number of threads on the installation too if your interested?

Good afternoon gents, well I charged my battery nice healthy 14.3V hooked up my new AutoPhix 9310 scanner to clear my Adaptive Dynamic Fault we have said error C105B Actuator Circuit - Group B I can not reset the error code, I wish I never took out those fuses .
I think I read somewhere to disconnect the Battery for 20 mins to help reset the error code, anyone come across that before?

Battery disconnect will not reset codes. I think you checked the battery voltage with the car running? We need a reading after the car has sat all night.
Can you post what that number is?

I don't think your scanner can fix this. Any chance you can get the car hooked up to a Jaguar SDD system?

Pretty rare code and the only thing I could find was for a LR and the fix was a software update.
But please make sure this is NOT a battery issue first!
