I had an '05 XJR with adaptive cruise control and after an initial adjustment really loved it. I just traded it on a 2011 XJ base w/o the adaptive feature and after completing a long drive I realized how much I missed it.

Can it be added to my 2011?

Thanks for any thoughts you might like to share. I know many of you do not like this feature and I value your opinion but I am clear about what I would like. The question is how to get it!

 

I also had it in my '08XK and not have it in our 2012 XJL and XF. There were things I did not like about adaptive cruise but, just like you, when I do not have it I miss it.

I will check with the Service next week when I will be at the dealership with my car. I assume that car's wiring harness and various computers should already come with the optional feature. It should be a matter of installing the radar sensor into the front of the car and unlocking the software. Sounds not terribly difficult but, we'll never know until checking with the factory guys.

Checked with my Service Manager yesterday and he claimed that installing the adaptive cruise would be prohibitive in costs. He estimated it to be US$ 8-9000. He said that just the radar unit alone cost nearly $5000.
