Hello,
2014 3.0 AWD 38k miles. All of the buttons underneath the navi screen have stopped working except for the hazard lights. The screen has the climate control as off and only the seat massager’s will turn on not the heated or cooled seats and I can only control the volume from my steering wheel. I have seen people having similar problems to mine in other posts but all they speak of to fix it was to disconnect the battery for like a half hour and then reconnected it. I’ve tried that twice and all it does is reset the memory in the car settings. any ideas on how to fix it as when I tried to bring it to the dealership under the warranty I was told that although electrical is covered they would most likely be charging me a $400 diagnostic fee just to check it out, which is really confusing. It’s covered under warranty yet they want $400 to figure out if it’s covered under warranty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Mark
has anyone found a solution. My 2016 XJ just has done the same thing ha. No buttons working. No heating
The battery is not made by Jaguar and is an Exide EK151. Yes a bit hard to find and yes a bit expensive at around $150-$250 usually. BUT that is half of your price too?
Take a look at EBay they have one for around $130 BUT it is from Latvia. Don't know if that will be a problem for you are not? Start-Stop Battery
I did purchase this and it was correct and I had no problems with the foreign seller.
Now if your in the UK it does seem a lot cheaper? EK151 Battery

I did spill coffee after harsh braking (from the cup holder into this unit) 12 months ago and I had exactly the same symptoms, the unit was damaged and needed to be replaced, Same symptom nothing worked but the hazard lights, which makes me think your unit is toast.
Thanks for the input... I wouldn’t mind replacing either battery if I knew that would fix the problem I am just not convinced that it is the battery. I feel like it’s a short in the panel itself.... I took apart the whole entire panel down to the circuit board today and noticed 3 black spots next to one of the silver capacitors idk if it was just Random or if it was the result of a short circuit. These are the receipts from the battery test they did. Left is the small auxiliary battery. I’ve read on a few threads where people have disconnected this battery all together. Do you think that’s a viable option for my current issue?
ok so I’m now having the same issue with my 2016 XJL portfolio did you ever find out what the issue was? My battery tested low I replaced it (mine does not have the auxiliary battery) stuff still only comes on when it wants to… Nothing below the screen works including eco start being off no bluetooth no AC nothing!! Then if I drove for a while sometimes it will all come back on sometimes it won’t. NOT a battery issue as I said I replaced my battery and still having the issue.

hey Steve would you recall the exact name of the “unit” you had replaced that was toast?? I’m wondering if I need to do the same. However it will be nice to know exactly what to tell them to check for. I don’t think mine is totally toast yet as it still comes on from time to time but it still sucks not having AC in Florida right now
Unless you get the car hooked up to the factory SDD system we don't know what is causing the problem?
The car is complicated and just changing "units" most likely won't work. Also many things need programmed to the car before they can be used.
Can you get the car tested with a SDD system?
As posted above if anything has been spilled on the console area that can cause failures.

yea that’s why I asked the gentleman that said he spilled something on it because I did also that’s why I’m pretty sure if changing the unit did it for him it will do it for me. I just need to know the name of the unit so I can let them know since everyone else’s seems to have their cars sitting in shops because no one knows what’s wrong. I don’t want to do that and I don’t know what an SSD system is either lol
Yes SDD is the factory diagnostic system and really there is nothing better to see what's going on with your car.
But that's the problem? Just changing things won't work because of the complications?

I had some buttons that were sticky (from apparently coffee/cocoa that the previous owner spilled from the cup holder), and took it out, took it apart & cleaned it.
If you look in "the manual" that others can refer you where to get, OR you could subscribe to ToPIX to view it & copy what you need from it; you can find instructions (pictographs though) for how to take it out. Taking it apart is something you'd have to be able to do on your own though.
But that's if it's not truly damaged electrically.

unit? What’s it called what is the name of the part that needed to be replaced I’m trying to find it and searching “unit” doesn’t work lol
ok so I found out what the unit is called. It’s called the “A/C control panel” and I simply had it changed out and everything is back to new!! So for anyone wondering according to the Jaguar dealership this is a common problem and all it takes is switching out the unit aka a/c control panel
Were you ever able to figure out what the problem was? I had the same issue on my xj 2016 I've replaced the battery and still have this issue. I checked the fuses too.
