Hey Everyone,

2011 XJL with the 5.0. I am in the middle of replacing the water pump on the car DIY style. I was told I have an oil leak from one of my valve covers but I honestly cannot see the leak. While replacing the water pump I ran my camera down the front of the motor and I do see some traces of oil. I suspect the oil leak is not from the valve cover but it's actually from the front of the engine. Is it my brake booster or is it the oil pan? Its hard for me to see since I obviously have coolant all over the front of the motor so it looks wet. Hoping someone else has seen this.

 

Yes, that is the vacuum pump. It’s a common place for an oil leak. It’s easy to fix. It’s held on with two bolts. Be advised that you will need to catch the oil when you remove the pump.
