Default Automatic Volume adjustment - Mic location

Hello everyone,

I recently traded for a 2011 XJL base and have been driving it around until I can sell it. I must say there are at least a dozen absolute and utter annoyances I already have with this thing. But perhaps the most confounding and annoying by FAR is the idiotic auto volume compensation circuit. I can be sitting at a complete stand still in a quiet parking garage with the engine idling and it will just randomly swing wildly up and down in volume with no input from me whatsoever.

I've already discovered that with Jaguar's wonderful UI there is no way to disable this by searching your excellent forum. Yet the discussion never seems to go any further than that. So I propose a solution. Apparently this thing uses microphones to monitor sound levels in the cabin. Assuming there isn't actually something broken causing it to act this way (it appears not from the other complaints I read), does anyone know where the microphone pickups would be located in the cabin? I theorize that perhaps if they can be covered up somehow the circuit that controls this won't be so overly aggressive in damping or increasing the volume so much in response.

I also read that the dealer can do a re-calibration (but how would it have gotten "out" of calibration of the first place?) but I wonder if this would be warranty work as its still under warranty, or something charged for. Nevertheless, that's going to take time to arrange and have done, so if I can alleviate it in the mean time it would be nice.

Run, do not walk, to your local Jaguar dealer. Good luck.

Thanks. Is this a known issue or something? It's ok once you're moving, its just a royal pain when you're in stop and go traffic or stopped.

Please have your dealer check and correct and then you could advise us on how the problem is corrected, and the cost by the dealership.
