Default Beeping noise

Hi all XJ owners, i'm currently a member on the F-type group, looking for some help with an issue on a fellow jaguar owners car. His XJ makes beeping sounds for a few seconds while driving, he said mostly when to close to another car or one to close to his rear, it has been at this since the got the car a few months and he just wants to disable the noise, maybe its somthing else, any help welcome, could be a safty feature, is there a way to stop it

It sounds like (s'cuse the pun) his parking sensors are permanently on. Is the switch in the overhead console illuminated?
You can disable the parking sensors by pulling the fuse and this would be a way of eliminating or proving this as the problem.

The parking aid module fuse is F21 (10A) in the luggage compartment fuse panel. This is located under a cover on the RH side of the boot (trunk).
There is a press switch in the overhead console to turn off the parking sensors when they're on or to turn them on if you need them before engaging Reverse (which will normally bring them on). If that switch is illuminated it means the sensors are on and the beepers will be active. Must be the same system on your F-Type.

What year is this XJ? 2019 introduced auto 360 PDC which turns the sensors on even when the PDC switch is off. You can disable it from the touch screen by pressing the settings cog on the PDC screen when it pops up.

He can tell if that is what is happening by looking at the PDC button to see if the orange telltale is lit. If he has an 8" central touch screen the button will be next to the sunroof button in the roof console, if he has the 10.2" full-width touch screen the button will be on the lower icon row on the screen and the button on the roof is missing. If it is lit it is the PDC - if it is not lit, it is something else.

One thing I do with park sensors is to turn them on using the overhead switch. Then get someone to put their ear to each sensor on the bumpers front and rear. You should be able to hear something and they all should have the same sound/tone.
Maybe one or more sensors is not working right?
You need to do this with the car running in gear so you must put the brakes on while doing the test.

No one mentioned it yet but can you scan for codes?
This will require a Jaguar specific reader as it will be buried pretty deep. A normal parts house scanner most likely can't read park sensor codes.
