Default Beeping sound from car while moving

Hi all, have a 2011 XJSC SWB, 94000 miles on it, and the engine light came on two day ago but dealer is booked up till June and they said it's probably not a big deal and is ok to drive around with it. But tonight on my way home, it started to short beep a single time every 30 seconds IF the car is moving, but doesn't beep when car is not moving at a light or parking lot. I timed it with stop watch on phone and it's exactly 30 seconds while moving. Can't figure out what's doing it, I don't know if it's related to the engine light but previously the engine light was due to a faulty O2 sensor.

New sound, never heard it in the 6 years I had it since I bought it brand new in 2011 and I'm pretty familiar with all the sounds it makes.....

Anyone seen this before??

Anyone have info on this problem? My car just started doing this same thing. I have no warnings on the dash to indicate an issue that the car sees. I have the belt minder turned off, so, it is not that. I did a search here and in the service manual and there is lots of references to one of the center console switches being held down for 30 seconds causing a beep, but this sounds like it would be a single beep. This is a beep every 30 seconds while the car is in motion. The only relationship I can determine is that I have been getting a low battery in the fob message and when that message is in, there are no beeps. But, I have replaced the battery and the low battery message has cleared.

This all started after having the car at a shop for 3 weeks where they replaced all 8 fuel injectors (one failed while having a new water pump installed).

This is in a 2012 XJ 5.0L base model. So, a lot of the bells and whistles are not in this car.

Rule #1 for all Jaguar electrical problems: Check your battery and make sure it's fully charged.

Rule #2. Repeat Rule #1.

How old is your battery? All sorts of electrical gremlins are caused by a low battery.

Odds are your battery wasn't on a battery maintainer or charger while it was in the shop for 3 weeks, and it simply ran down. Have it load tested at your local national chain auto parts store for free.

To avoid future battery problems, I replaced the 6-year old original AGM battery in my XJ in 2019 with a Bosch AGM battery from Pep Boys for $174.99 installed, plus tax. For details, see:

Stuart, the battery is less than 2 years old. Replaced it not too long ago. It could be low, but I would also think with the driving that I have been doing lately, this would have gotten the battery back up to 100% just through a normal driving. Kinda like I don't think the capacity is starting to drop (if so, very little) as the car starts as soon as you hit the button. There is no delay like what you get when the capacity drops significantly. I am thinking a hard reboot may be what is needed.

I'd still get the battery load tested, just to rule out the battery as the cause. It's fast and free. And I agree with you about the hard reset.

This is where having/having access to the diagnostic tool is handy. In my case it was the lock and unlock actuator on one of the doors both registering 'on' at the same time. I removed all the door cards and went and lubricated all the moving parts in each door, which fixed it.

fossberry, I have the Mongoose cable and at one time had a working copy of SDD. I had V1.38 as I recall (the last one before it went online). But, at some point, the program attempted to update itself and it hasn't worked since. I may need to find an older copy of SDD and see if I can go backwards and install the older version. I really don't want to, but it may be my only option at this point. If you know a way to make SDD not want to update, that would be greatly appreciated.

I am wondering if my car is sensing an issue with the car not sitting level. I can see where my car is sitting about an inch high on the right rear corner, causing the car to lean a little bit when you look at the back. I was hoping that there was a way to release the pressure in the air ride system to make it achieve a new level. I may have bit myself on this one as it could have happened when I jacked up the front end (one corner at a time) to get under to do the fuel pumps. I was tempted to release the fittings from the control valve, but, reading the service manual, it states that once you loosen these fittings, they are supposed to be thrown away and the only way to vent the system that I can find involves having the SDD software.

Default What thermo said was

You must have the car's suspension recalibrated. But, you must do it in an ultra-precise way, not the basic levelling. After running the program (I did not enter any data), the car stabilised and everything has been fine since then.
