Default brake pads

I was surprised to hear that brake pads are not covered by 3 year maintenance plan on 2013 xj. How long have brake pads been lasting?

On my 2013 the only thing that was covered in the 4 year 50k warranty was the first year service and oil change, not even the wipers were covered! For wipers I order the Valeo's from Tire Rack as they are the best and last the longest, for me. My original pads lasted rears 18.5k fronts 21k. Second set all around was at 36k. All not covered as only the 2012 back had full maintenance. I believe. Rears tend to wear faster as they are used as part of the traction control system.

Ohh...

2010-2012 full coverage, and 2013-current only limited?

That explains a lot. The (st)ealer did my pads and didn't charge me...I thought I slipped through the cracks. Damn, my dream of getting back at them even just a little...foiled!

I had my 2012 XJL for exactly 30 months and put on 30k miles before trading it in last October without having to change the brake pads. If I hadn't switched over to a 2014 XJL at that point in time, I would've replaced the brake pads then.

BTW, brake pads were not covered under the 2012 maintenance plan either; I believe 2011 was the last year for that, although I could be mistaken. The three-year plan in 2012 was just for the scheduled maintenance services, not wear items. Then in 2013, Jaguar reduced the scheduled maintenance coverage to one year from the previous three years.
