Default brief test drive 2011 XJ

Last night I went to Jaguar of Tacoma and was able to do brief drive of the 2011 XJR. First I checked out the one of the showroom floor. Loved the front end and how the rear flowed from the rear wheel back. I'd been checking out the car for about ten minute before another customer pointed out the black rear corner roof pillar. Autoweek article didn't like it but it blended in so well I hadn't noticed it.
Of course it had all the goodies such as a each seat controlling their own venilation. The Navigation System could be programmed where the left dial (where fuel and water is) turned in the road with a green street that you're driving on. I don't know if that is available in other cars but it was first time I'd seen it.
After the engine was started underneath both headlights was a row of LED lights. Looked great in the reflection from the storeroom window. Take that Audi.
The power is awesome. I was doing about 20 and stepped on it. Gigantic smile and it was at 100. Great sound.

Nice to read a good review on the new Jag . Recently , I read another test review on a German mag in English and its the very 1st time BMW was beaten by Jag . I reckon this is how good the car is

I drove the 2011 at Crest Jaguar in Connecticut and the experience was amazing. Smooth as silk ride, sleek design, and fast. It's normally aspirated V-8 was faster than my XJR. Still trying to learn to love the design, it really doesn't differentiate from the XF looking at the nose, but the tail is "unique".

I had really liked this car (2011 Xj) before I saw some very up close interior pictures, and pictures of the tail. My main disappointment with the interior is the color that it's available in. I don't like the blue, and the other maroon (or whatever color Jag calls it) colors, and what really gets me is the cheap black surround for the gear shift, and the navigation. I really miss the ski slope design on the preceding cars. Another issue I really wasn't expecting to have was the different woods available. The burl walnut seems to be the only wood for me.

However, the car's front end does look great, and the gadgets are something that I can only dream of having. Those vented seats are something I'd kill for to have in Florida.

Red face Options Galore...

Remember...you can get the new XJ in practically any interior color combination you want...within reason. The XJ is my first Jaguar, but couldnt believe the choices I had compared to other cars.

Jaguar offers a vast range of 'special order' colors and trims that can be selected in any combination. The brochure and the Jag website only really give one a taste of what one can spec their car out with.
On another note, I think the car looks best in black.

The XJl supercharged is really worth the test drive. I drove both. The xj is fast and a handles great. The XJL supercharged will pin you in the seat and handles with equL aplomb with the XJR .

I agree...the supercharged XJ has an amazing amount of power. However, my Wife and I decided to forgo the horsepower for the basic V8 version XJ. This will enable her to spend more money on shoes and other clothing items....

Wink I agree

I agree with both. I bought the Neiman Marcus edition with all the power extras and will limit " discretionary " spending for the next couple of years. Lol...

Hey Mod,

When do we get a new "Jaguar Models" section for the 2011+ X351? Seems that there are quite a few out there now.

Just received an XJL in Caviar w/ Truffle and Cashew interior. Gobs of power w/out Supercharger and I absolutely LOVE this, my first, Jaguar.

Anyone know where you can get accessories, other than from Jaguar dealer parts. ie. discounted.

This thread would benefit from some pictures!

I saw my first two new XJs yesterday. One was black with 'New XJ' graphics down it's side, so it looked odd. The next was a light brown/tan sort of colour and it looked superb. I loved the size, shape, face of it.

Both were being driven at speed so I only caught glimpses. I pitty the poor chap who leaves one parked for me to properly examine!

I just saw my first two up close and in person Xj's a week ago or so. I must say, it does look so much better in person than it does in the pictures. One option that I would get on my car (when/if I opt for one) would be the deletion of the Xj badging on the boot lid.
