So, I believe one of the vacuum pipes in my X351 3.0D split in half - the broken pipe on the left of the picture should be connected to the rubber bit on the right (top of the engine, left side). It seems that no one in the whole country of Great Britain has this part (although I don't know the part number; anyone?), hence I had the idea of connecting those two pipes with some silicon tube and one connector.
My question is - does it have a chance of working? I've got no idea what's under the rubber connector on the right hand side and I'm slightly afraid to pull it because those pipes are of worse quality than drink straws.
Or maybe someone has a better idea? I'm pretty sure that if I go to any garage now, they'll just tell me that the part is unavailable (as they usually do) and that jag dealership is closed.
I think vacuum pipe broken on your picture are for variable turbo actuator?
I can´t see why repairing with new tube and one male to male pipe connector (similar what are used in widshield washer pipes) would not work. However: Do not use flexible silicon tube because it can collapse by vacuum.
Use rubber pipe what are mentioned for vacuum piping from your local car parts shop. Just take nose pliers and pull the broken plastic out from rubber hose by twisting same time than pulling. Hold the rubber or push it against its groove to prevent it rotating same time.
You can purchase that same hard plastic pipe from your local car spare part shop as well, and you can replace whole piping quite easy if you want. Pipe are quite cheap and easy to work with. Use heat gun to make corners and bends like original pipes have. Heat only the area you want to bend and they come out very nice. With little practice the bends are as good as originals.
I have an theory that using non-manufacturer recommended engine oils will cause plastic parts to britle. Oil is known to make plastic hard and britle, but oil additives can prevent thís happen. If i would desing an engine with plastic parts i would choose the type engine oil and type of plastic to be suitable for each other.
Hi, I think that pic are from gasoline engine? On V6 diesel the vacuum pump is in the end of camshaft.
How about the pipe nr.6 from this picture?
EDIT: this is not correct, check my next post.
Do you have an idea what the part number may be?
Sorry for being confused but I just hate looking for Jag parts, why does it always have to be so bloody difficult.
I try to search it from repair manual, but no part numbers mentioned. Found this description for it in one table: "Cylinder ventilation scavenger hose (2 off)".
Propably should be: Crankcase ventilation....
This pipe have quite low vacuum, and it dosent effect runnig if it´s leaking or not, so i would just repar it with some rubber vacuum hose.
