All X351 XJs have regular shocks/springs up front and air shocks in the rear.

All 4 shocks are "valve a-tronic" (i.e. electrically controlled valves from soft to firm) and the rears have in addition an air adjustable bladder to control the ride height..

Magtronic shocks simply apply current to a coil and this puts a magnetic field into the shock which causes the fluid in the show to get thick. The stronger the current, the stronger the magnetic field, the thicker the fluid gets. The thicker the fluid, the shorter distance the shock can move over a period of time. The Damptronic shocks work on a similar principle except that the fluid has to go through a valve. This valve can be full open (maximum comfort), essentially fully closed (very firm, very little fluid passes), or some point inbetween. If you have a problem with the suspension, the computer removes any signal to the shocks and this causes the electronic valve to go full shut (maximum firmness).
