Default Re: oil leak fix

Hi gents,

My apologies if this question is too silly or has been answered.

I have oil leak at the camshaft gasket, which it is leaking quite badly. I know to get the hands on the engine itself, the superchager has to be removed first. But after that, do we have to drop the whole engine to do anything like spark plug change or camshaft cover change or front and rear crankshaft cover change?

Because I am trying to fix the oil leak with minimal labour cost if the engine has to be dropped the bill would be massive. And if I have to fix the oil leak once and for all I would like to change the camshaft covers and gaskets, front and rear crankshaft covers.

Can you post any pictures?
I ask because that is not a reported problem and I wonder if perhaps it might be your gear driven vacuum pump.
Which is a known oil leaker?

I wish I have. No, it was by eye balling by my mechanic.

For the common one, do you mean this seal? I plan on changing it as well even though mine may not be leaking.

It's not labeled but yes that does look like the O-ring for the vacuum pump.

Thank you!
I am not sure if the remap has accelerated the wearing. Is your engine still bone dry?

I can't see any connection between the tune and oil leaks?
Can you explain?

Yes I am at 42K miles on my 2014 XJR and it has no leaks.

Hi, if you need to do this gasket on the diagram do you need to do full brake bleed afterwards?

?? This is a gear driven vacuum pump. When the O-ring leaks you change it.
No brake fluid it leaks engine oil.
