Default oil leak, trying to find location...

had my balance and rotation done yesterday and was shown a minor oil leak. Looks like it is lower, I inspected the top of the engine put my flash light all around and everything looked dry. I saw sweat and wet areas around the transmission lower part, and on the lower part of the engine, Seems like its coming from either behind the engine or the lower part of it. The top and middle seem very dry. Any ideas guys?? thanks.

Are you sure it's engine oil and not transmission oil?

The 3.0's are prone to leak from the IMT's, valve cover or the oil pan is a suspect as well.

The hardest part of tracking down a leak is giving the engine a real good wash down without getting crucial parts wet then driving a few days then checking whats leaking.

def is engine oil. I believe when I was at the dealer a few months back they said the engine oil pan was leaking. If my head was leaking would it be leaking from the top? I really hope it isnt the head gasket.

If the shop said engine oil pan leaking why have you not checked it?

Could be the rear engine seal leaking...

Step number one would be to degrease the bottom of the engine and transmission thoroughly so that the oil trail can be seen. Otherwise, it's all guesswork.

sorry joycesjag didnt mean to forget about you, I will get it checked out for sure. I just wanted to know if the head was leaking, where it would be leaking from.
To abanono, I had the rear main seal done about a year ago. The dealer told me it was the oil pan gasket, but thats the dealer you never know what they say to make money.
