I repaired mine, its not difficult, requires removing the centre console surround around your gear shift and also the front dash centre console surround, use a plastic trim remover and go slowly and gently around your console trims.
when you get those done GENTLY lift them out of the panel clips so you do not crack the plastic trim surrounds, you will need to remove the centre dash display and the air con controls, these are fixed in with Torx screws, do not drop them they will be gone for good.
Then remove your cup holder with the 4 torx screws there, retrieve you missing black plastic bits from the slide mechanism if any have fallen away.
Clean the back of the plastic bits for the cover with a bit of isotropy first
I laid mine upside down on my kitchen bench top, spaced them evenly as they all interlock, then applied some Tarzan's grip double sided red tape along each side but not so it interferes with the slide track, obviously only remove the protective tape from one side of the adhesive surface, you only need a few mm thick strip, this stuff is stupidly sticky and once its on you cannot get it off, so you have one chance to get it right.
mine works perfectly now and no dislodged plastic bits.
i did try many types of flexible tape, but none even come close to the permanent bond that the Tarzan's grip tape gives or were too thick etc and not flexible enough.
Try it on, it does work, there must be other products out there similar in nature.
There are many ways to repair this, its just a thin material strip with something like a contact cement that is originally used to hold all those fingers in place.
Replacements are available and not hard to find, simple to install but invariably if buying a used part, expect to have to do as I have done or simmilar, the contact cement they used in production does not bond well over time to the hard black smooth plastic surface.

I am looking at a 2011 XJL Supercharged and the sliding lid on the cup holder is broken. How much trouble is it to replace and how is it done. Thanks.
I have read many threads about fixing or repairing the sliding cup holder lid on the x351. In some, a revised and improved version is mentioned but never a part number. I have checked ebay and the ones for sale are noted with a part number c2d49968, so I’m assuming that is the original part number. Does anyone know the part number of the new and improved version. You guys are great, thanks much in advance.

Click on the link in Post #3, above, for details and photos of how I replaced mine using Jaguar Part # C2D49968. That is the improved version.
I'm an shade tree mechanic, not a real auto technician, and if I can R&R it, so can you. But you'll need the right tools. Just follow my illustrated instructions.
If you buy a used one from eBay, make sure that it is fully refundable because it might have been broken and "repaired", which won't last long.
Please do not buy a brand new cup holder assembly from Jaguar. My cup holder lids were functioning just fine, however, they were scuffed. I purchased two of these sliding lids from eBay for a fraction of the cost. They fit into cup holder assembly, no problem. My cup holders look brand new again. Hope this helps!
