Coolant Leak - Need Suggestion
I purchased 2011 Jaguar XJ around one year back with 42K miles on it. I was informed by jaguar dealer that there is coolant smell when I went for oil change 6 months back. Since then I constantly checking the coolant level and topped up for 4 times as I don't see any leaks visibly. 2 days back I drove the vehicle to workshop to check the coolant leak and they asked to drop the vehicle at their location to run the pressure test. Today Day I got a call to workshop to check the leaks and am scared to say how am driving the call last 3months (500 miles approx). Here is the workshop statement
1. Water pump is actively leaking
2. Thermostat, Upper coolant Pipe, Rear cross pipes actively leaking
Now I got at quote to fix the same for 4K. this includes
Coolant Passage Mainfold - remove replace
Thermostart - Remove - replace
Water Pump - Remove and replace
Now I am scared to drive the vehicle as I can see there are 3 puncher leaks from thermostat when the service engineer run the pressure test for 2 mins to show the leaks. Please advice is the cost reasonable to get the work done. 2k Labour charges and 2K parts.

pasificbay, you have come to the right place. First off, $2K for the parts is short of highway robbery. I would tell you to look at a kit like: 2010-2015 Jaguar Cooling System Upgrade Kit - AJ133 5.0 V8 NA which would have all the parts you are after except for maybe the thermostat housing. This also gets you metal piping vice getting more of the factory brittle plastic. Please note, the kit that I list is for the naturally aspirated motor. There is a separate kit if you have the supercharged motor. They run a little more, but, will have all the parts like the listed kit has. Then I would find a quality European specialist in your area. They are going to be cheaper and will install these aftermarket parts for you. Should be able to get out the door for around $2K. Unfortunately, there is a number of hours for doing all the wrenching for this kit.
thank you for your inputs. my is 5.0 V8 (Not supercharged) engine.
below the list of parts
Water Pump - LR-097165G
Thermostat - LR035124
Intake manifold- MS97530
Front/Middle Pipes - LR090630-LR092
Coolant Reservoir Hose - C2D6005
Coolant Hose - BF 80017
Heater Pipe - URO-017677
Water pump Outlet Pipe - LR028236ES
As I understood for the videos I have understood the workshop quoted with OEM plastic pipes which is not recommended.
Now Any recommendations in and around DFW area to get the work done. Thanks you for all your support

Good luck and do replace all the failing plastic. Try to do it at one time so you don't keep paying for labor to go back in and replace another cooling part. By this time it's all shot and needs replaced. As posted above there are now much better metal cooling parts which are available.
Note that for the 5.0 NA engine the front two plastic pipes are not available in metal. So you will need to use the updated plastic versions with the smooth seams.
