Default Cracked iginiton switch repair

My ignition switch was broken for a while, but I couldn't find any used one locally and after my horrible experience with the dealer while ordering a new intercooler a while back, I refused to go there again.
So if your switch cracks and sooner or later majority of them do, it doesn't really matter if you buy a pre- or postlift version. The difference is just in the bottom part where the plug goes, the upper with the button is identical. I bought a used one in excellent condition for just 15$.

Early and late model switches, different plugs

The removal of the switch has been widely described. You can either try to pry it out from the outside or just unscrew the plastic surrounding of the gauges and push the switch from the inside.
To swap them you simply have to unclip the bottom part, by pressing on the tabs (red arrow in the photo) and insert the new one in that place.

You may find the the button doesn't really press smoothly with the new part, as it sometimes happens, what you can do is change just the button and keep the black part from your original switch.
Hope this helps someone.

P.s. I do also have a good upgrade for the cracking intercooler problem in diesel engines, solves the problem once and for all, I can write it up if anyone's intersted
