Default Cylinder numbering

I wanted to know if somebody knows what are the cylinder numbers in reference to sitting in the car driver seat. I cannot find anything online that can give me exact numbering of cylinders so I can match with my scanner what exact cylinders are doing. It seems they are different ways of numbering depending where you look. I am thinking that cylinder one would be the most forward Bank in a V style engine. That to me looks like passenger side or ( right side when sitting in left hand drive car) would contain cylinders number 1 3 5 7 forward to back and 2 4 6 8 drivers side. Does anyone have confirmation of this I would appreciate it.

2 1
4 3
6 5
8 7
Driver's seat

It's another confusing thing about Jaguar.

Here is a page from the service manual and you can see all the variations used over time.

And this one for the injector numbering which I know is correct for my car.

The later cars, such as the X351, use the ISO numbering scheme: Bank 1 (1,3,5,7) Bank 2 (2,4,6,8).

well it depends if you have a US car or Canadian car like I have. The numbering is completely different as I found out the hard way.

if it is Canadian
4. 8
3. 7
2. 6
1. 5
