"Debadging a trunk lid"
Just got a 2016 XJ-L, and while I'm planning on leaving the XJ-L lettering and the "leaper", the Jaguar lettering and the 3.0 badging is leaving me somewhat less enthused.
The Jaguar letters are obviously held in place with double sided tape. The 3.0 lettering seems to be attached a little more firmly. Has anyone removed these? Are they taped in place, or secured with studs?
Thanks in advance!

I know, as I've always been a "minimalist", when it comes to trim. It's ironic that our "dead" XJ was a V-8, yet didn't have a "5.0" on the trunk lid, but the V-6 car does.............

Search the site, there's been a lot of info about "de-badging" tips written up already. I took the left and the right badges off, leaving the Leaper and J-A-G-U-A-R in the center. On my 2013 XJ, it was all glue. A heat gun, some monofilament and goo-gone to remove the remaining glue was all it took. And for me, the look is much better.
I had a few minutes today, and went out to the garage with the heat gun. The 3.0 letters are held on with 2-sided tape, but they're a little more firmly attached, due to a greater surface area. They're now off. The Jaguar letters are next, as our 2012 didn't have them, and we like the cleaner look. The "XJ-L" and leaper will remain, in honor of our late, great 2012....
when the X351's originally came out, Ian wanted the design to be clean. His role in the project probably ended and was passed on to someone else who decided they wanted to add all the badges.

Just because it has a badge doesn't mean it's the real deal:

Obviously, he's mentally handicapped.
It's that "new" model that Honda is introducing....the "Wannabee".....
i wonder if the 3.0 badge is for badge shaming. "oh he only got the 3L model"
I understand, 100% Our '12, with the V-8 had no badge, but the new V-6 does............?????
since it was only offered with the V8 in 2012, they didnt need to put a badge to show the difference, at the same time too they werent putting any badges on the car.
if the numb-nuts thats working on the car now, was on the project in 2012 you would have for SURE seen the car covered in badges.
