I'm new to this car (2015 Portfolio 3.0 AWD), but I've had a few other Jaguars, older models. A month in and I really like it, coming from several years of MB S-class cars. One thing I really don't like is the electronic dipstick. Is it possible to retrofit a regular old fashioned dipstick to this engine? From an earlier year or a different model maybe? I might be weird, but I kinda like to see, touch, smell, feel my oil.
The AJ133 never came with a dipstick, but if you wanted to drill a hole in your oil pan you probably could. I don't think it's worth that level of effort.
To quickly check your oil level, turn your engine off and select it from the service menu. If you ran your engine recently, double tap the cruise control cancel and it will show the immediate oil level (not as accurate as waiting 10-15mins).
I have had two 4.2l engines with dipsticks. I am on my second 5.0l engine with electronic oil level system and I have found them to be accurate and reliable. I get my kicks from sucking the engine oil out with my vacuum system---all the see, touch, smell and feel I need and no crawling under the car. Sorry I cannot help you with the dipstick thing I have never looked for a way to do it.

If you want to 'feel' your oil, open your oil filler cap and run your finger across the cams. If you haven't seen a picture of the oil extraction tube, it looks like a piece of boiled wet spaghetti!
I would imagine that it would be virtually impossible to get a piece of sprung steel to navigate the path to the sump without serious problems. Even then, removing the dipstick would wipe off the evidence you were looking for.

The 3.0D block don´t have an opening or space on block for dipstick.
The suction tube make so many and tight bends that it cannot be used. (if you like to see 3.0D dismantled: Search youtube channel Piston Broke Garage or LR time. Both working with Range Rover, but same engine)

Park on a level surface (the system may vary up to 0.5L with as little as a half degree of tilt front to rear).
-put the car in the ON (engine not running) condition
-Open the hood of your car
-scroll through the right controls to attempt to look at the oil level (will give you an error unless you meet all the requirements for normal viewing, ten min rest)
-press the CANCEL button for the cruise control twice in a 2 second period (your right indication will return to a normal view during this process)
-Scroll back to view the oil level.

Operate the car and park. Wait ten minutes. Switch on the ignition (do not start the engine). Ensure Park (P) is selected.
a. Select the Service menu using the instrument panel menu control, see 63, INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU.
b. Select Oil level display from the Service menu. The current oil level status and topping-up advice is displayed in the instrument panel, top-up as instructed.
An indication of the oil level is displayed in the gauge. Messages to the right of the gauge advise you of any action you may need to take.
I have found the electronic oil level system on my V-8 to not be very accurate, despite following factory instructions on a flat concrete garage floor. If you're serious about engine lubrication, do the job yourself with a Mity-Vac extractor, the only definitive method to ascertain exactly how much oil you've consumed since your last oil change (the reservoir has graduated markings). Another benefit to performing the job yourself is the irrefutable knowledge of type, viscosity and amount of oil in your crankcase. You're then able to send a sample at a subsequent change for analysis. All of the tools and materials you need for an oil and filter change on these cars will cost you less than the same procedure performed once at a reputable shop.
They're not making any more of these cars, fellas, so take care of the one you've got.....
