Disconnecting Battery Gear lock?

I have owned numerous jags, post pre 1988. I was told that if I disconnect the battery that the gear selector will lock in park. My current Jag is a 2005. Is this correct? If so, how do you change the battery and reset selector?

All I had to do on my '04 XJ after changing the battery was to reset the parking brake. Certainly didn't have to reset anything to do with the gear selector.
