Default DPF filter

Ive a XJ 61 reg and the DPF has just gone straight to RED normally I get the amber warning. I managed to get home but now I'm nervous about even getting it the local dealer which is about 10 mile away any ideas?

The comments on this for the S-Type diesel suggest having it towed to the dealer and a forced regen - but be sure to check the engine oil has no diesel in it and if it has then change the oil. Engine destruction is a real risk, sadly.

How often are you guys seeing any DPF warnings, and is it because your daily commute isn't far enough?

I've yet to see a warning, and my normal commute is only around 23 miles (and a bit stop/start, no real constant speed above 50mph). I've only had the thing since April though.

I had the same problem with mine in may this year, it went straight to red and had to be towed into jaguar. They said they removed the dpf and submerged it to try and clean it so it would ‘regen’ again, which luckily it did or they said I needed to spend about £2000 to replace it. I’ve been using high grade diesel and buying the dfp cleaners with goes into the tank. However I still don’t know if they will help or not. Like you I also do short miles too and from work but I do give it a good blast and take it for a good run every month.
