Default Failed MOT due to Parking Brake.

So my 2010 3ltr Diesel failed its MOT. Failed on the parking brake. Basically it won't apply properly. Now the thing wont even drive without the alarm going off. Says it can't apply brake but then says alarm is on because brake is applied? Never made a noise prior to the MOT. Thing is there was an issue with the parking brake before I bought it which the garage Peter Vardy Carz Aberdeen (avoid) said they had fixed. They said they fitted a whole new control unit. Had to drop subframe etc. When I had an issue immediately I tried it after, I got it they said they hadn't programmed it to the new unit, so it was taken back and they said again they had fixed it.By this time due to a lot of things I can't say I trusted this.

I had an issue at Christmas when the brake and wouldn't release. I managed to release it through using my XtoolsD7 computer to put the parking brake in service mode.

I've tried this again, this rime, mainly to try and shut off alarm but the conputer can't establish connection with the unit and times out, this time

So, anyway, it has failed its first MOT since I had it. (Vardy did the MOT themselves last time &#129320 So I suspect we are looking at an expensive job?

Any ideas to try before heading to garage. Incidentally I need this car for a big trip in 3 weeks.

Without codes we are all guessing?
Has the car been hooked up to the Jaguar SDD system?

You may want to consider going the legal route since the fault was there at or soon after purchase. You can potentially force a repair / take it elsewhere & charge the place you named. There's help online if you search & read a lot / CAB / Which? / and so on.
