Default Electronic Parking brake fault alarm

A week ago I jumped into my 2005 S Type and as I tried to back out of my driveway it wouldn't move. I was getting two parking brake warnings. After researching found out the actuator had gone out. I disconnected the cables from the parking brake calipers so I could drive the car to the shop. I live in Florida and there is nothing even approaching an incline, let alone a hill around here. The shop verified that I would need a new parking brake actuator and possibly a module. The estimate gave me sticker shock to say the least.

Question is I can't afford to get this done for a few weeks. In the meantime as I drive around there is a loud alarm going off constantly telling me I'm driving with the parking brake engaged. Is there any way to defeat the alarm until I can afford to get the work done?

This is often actually a failing battery.

How did they check what the cause was? Most shops genuinely do not know how to check...

A proper Jag dealer?

You might be able to defeat it by pulling its fuse (check handbook / JTIS) or even unplugging the module (behind RH trim in trunk, see JTIS).

No a local shop, by they showed me they are Jaguar certified. The closest dealership is 2 and 1/2 hours away.

The circuit its on is most of the dashboard functions. I've already tried that. I haven't tried disconnecting the module but will. Can't hurt.

Gatorbaiter,

1) Does your battery have a date stamped on it? I would start there if it is original.

2) Read this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...e-stuck-32699/

3) Heed JagV8s advise above.

4) If you really want to dump all that money into the rear braking system its your call.

Thanks Desert_SRT

I'm trying a few of the previous suggestions. Disconnecting the module did stop the annoying alarm and I can now drive in peace. As soon as I resolve this I'll get with you about the actuator.
