Default Front suspension stuck in hard mode.

Hi everybody. For a week or more now my xj8 2003 4.2 is having the suspension stuck in hard mode I had a look relay frome the Cats and seems ok,inhaled the battery disconnected for more than 12 hour and nothing happened.Prior to this pro8i had the air suspension fault on the dash and after I restarted the car vanished .Is a way to reset the cats or somehow to have the suspension normal again?as is not anymore a pleasure to drive this amazing car.Thank you.

This forum is for the post 2009 cars. Try posting in the one for X350, X358 cars 2003-2009. The suspension default is Hard as no signal is being sent to the dampers to switch the internal solenoid that alters the damping to Soft. Any suspension fault that is detected sets the dampers to Hard. Only when the stored codes are cleared will the Soft setting become available again. Just excessive time recharging the air reservoir will cause the switch, as will faults in the ABS system.
