Default Fuel pump fails twice in a row? Possible?

I'm sitting on the side of the road in the express lanes in northern VA writing this. My car died two days ago and it was the fuel pump. I'm on way home, and it dies again coming from the mechanic. Is this possible? I checked the fuses. I want to do this myself vs paying a mechanic 1200 again but I'm looking for a couple of things. Where is the rear fuel pump located? Instructions to get to and drop tank to repair. Thanks in advance. Xjl supercharged 2012

The pump is in the right side of the fuel tank under the right rear seat and through a removable panel and then you have to open the fuel tank. There are special sealants that will be needed to reseal the tank port. You may be "lucky" and the connector came loose. There are 3 fuel pumps one "low" pressure in the tank and 2 high pressure on the lower right side that are driven by a short cam shaft with 2 lobes.

its actually not as hard as most people think. what you should be poaying for is a diagnosis. or check fuel pressure yourself before you condemn it.
