Hi I have an issue on one of my x351 where the full beam doesnt work on the offside headlight.
If I flash my headlights full beam on when the headlights are on only one flashes.
I am getting a code U0241-00 in SDD
(Lost Communication With Headlamp Control Module "A" - No sub type information)
I have tried changing bulbs and ballasts and have tried the headligh out of my other X351 without any joy.
I've checked all the fuses too.
Anyone got any idea what could be causing this and where to look next?
Boy that's an odd and unique one! Never seen or heard of that code but you did get me to dig into this and the module appears to be mounted somewhere on the passenger side firewall? No I think it's on the inside passenger side floor board behind the side plastic kick panel. I found that on an XF so not your car but worth a look.
Note it is a network code and the manual suggests checking the power and ground wires going to the module plus a possible CAN bus problem which would again be a wiring issue. I do get a slightly different action description too?
Yours says "Instrument Cluster" and mine says "Central Junction Box". I got the above from my 2014 XJ workshop manual.
Item 20 is what your looking for.
Since you have a SDD have you tried to reprogram the module? Looking at the location of the module it might have gotten wet? Just a guess and an inspection would tell you that. I think it requires programming as the shop manual says to not swap modules.
Here is what that module looks like and they seem cheap at under $100 used so if it is the module not an expensive or rare part as every XJ came with one.
Sorry for the lack of suggestions!
Post back with what you find too.

Hi thanks for your detailed reply.
Yes I tried reprogramming it And updated the software on it.
I will try and find the module when I find it and swap them across from the other X351 I have and program it to my car.
If it fixes the fault I'll buy a replacement for the other X351.
It's handy at times like this having 2 of them 😊
I will be following to see what the problem was.
Did you get any errors when attempting to reprogram the module? Sometimes it just completes the task with no messages but things still don't work.
Now one suggestion which came directly from Jaguar is to unplug the module before you scan the car. It will show a red X in SDD as it can't communicate with that module. You then go to program that module and at the very last moment BEFORE you click the last green check mark. Re-connect the module. This is an attempt to "fool" SDD and force it to reprogram a used module as a new one. Again sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.
I have attached a SDD best practices document that talks about this and maybe useful to what your trying to fix.

Thanks sounds like a good idea.
I was fixing the electric heater element today so was in the right area to find the HCM
I've looked on ebay and it's about £10 for an identical one to mine.
I'm glad I didn't have to take the dash out for the repair today thank god lol
I'll be probably working on this next week as I've got the dreaded split intercooler on my other X351 to tackle this week
Thanks for the picture and confirming that the module is in the same place on the XJ as it is on the XF.
Your picture only has one plug attached to the module? Was there another plug or was that one on the right side empty?
With the added yellow tag with "New Part" on it I wonder if it has been replaced? I have never seen Jaguar put a label like that on anything?
