Talking Hey guys - took delivery of a 2012 XJ 5.0 SC - checking in

Just wanted to say hey, probably will be spending a decent amount of time on these forums. My CPO 2012 Stratus Gray on London Tan got delivered to me yesterday, and I am so excited. My girlfriend years ago had an XF 4.2 and I had always wanted another Jag. Once I test drove a SC XJL a few weeks ago, I was sold. Once I found the color combination I wanted, I pulled the trigger and finally got it yesterday (it had to ship from a couple of states away). I am replacing a W219 CLS63, and it doesnt even compare to the Jag. Transmission, comfort, driving experience, its all fantastic, but you all already know that.

Look forward to being a member of the forum. Talk to you guys soon!

Haha that was the plan, but I got sidetracked by work. Here are the first few I took of it:

On the transport. The Maserati got to absorb all the rock chips and bugs.

I told the driver to go the other way on the street, specifically so they didnt have to use the wood, but there were no issues.

A lady in a Corolla was very aggravated that I was backing up the street to get into my driveway.

The awesome London Tan interior. I prefer calling it Peanut Butter. I dont have a good shot, this was just through the window to show a buddy.

And finally at the office. I have to find a good spot to park. All the end spots have trees next to them that drop weird dots onto the cars. And the spots way off in the back are not company-specific, so any jagaloon can park next to my car just to annoy me, so not sure the best place to park.

Nice! I have the same wheels (polished Kasugas) but just can't figure why darker colored cars appear to look better with these than on light colored cars (mine's lunar grey).

And Stratus Grey almost looked like black (first 2 pics).

I just took a look on a quick Google search, and they do seem to pop more on the dark cars, i never noticed that. Maybe its because the color of the wheels is close to the color of the lighter cars? Either way though, i definitely like these a lot for OEM wheels.

A few people looking at the car thought it was black when looking at it in direct sunlight, they had to move around to the other side to see the gray. I love it, i couldnt be happier right now!

Just gotta find someone to buy the damn Benz.

Guilty lol
I thought it was black when on the hauler but I see the gray when at your work.

Congrats, welcome to the XJ life. I Love the color combo and it looks great!
You have any plans?
I suggest you get a coating if it's going to be a daily especially in SC. The stuff that comes off the trees down south is a mystery lol.

Thanks! I waited for this to come along, so many had light gray or light tan.

First plan is tint. I hate having the fishbowl situation, so hopefully do that in the next couple of weeks. Down the road i would like to black out most of the chrome with gloss black, minus the jag emblem in the front. Then some rims, of course. But i need to find ones that look just right with the car, so that might take a while. Im very particular there. Also, maybe, some different exhaust tips. I love quads, but the regular circular ones dont look right to me. Im thinking something more angular, like the newer AMGs.

I know exactly what you mean about those weird black dots from the trees, thats why ive been parking away from them! What kind of coating are you talking about tho?

There are a few companies doing coatings so check around and read the reviews. They talk about a few different coatings in this thread.

Yeah i really do like that shot, but it could just be that having a car delivered was just a cool experience.

Im with you on the styling too. When i first saw these when my ex gf got her XF, i was in love with the interior, but the exterior i wasnt sure of. but as time went on i think they aged extremely well. one mans opinion of course, but i just love the look, and you never see these around. I think the fact that its still the same body style too helps a lot.

I know there are a lot of naysayers, but I personally think the XJ is one of the most beautiful body styles ever bestowed upon a car. All that PLUS London Tan interior!!! Here's wishing you many years and many miles of happy driving!
