My '97 XJ6 Jag is in valet mode and the trunk won't open.
I bought the car (no master key), just the green key.
Can't open the trunk and fob is not working.
Any suggestions?

 

First thing to do is replace the battery in your keyfob. If that doesn't solve your problem, then post your inquiry in the proper XJ forum. This is the X351 Forum for the current model 2010-up XJ. You should post it here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/

 

Chef Santiago, odds are, if replacing the battery in the keyfob does not fix it for you, you will be force to take it to the dealership to have them reset it. The one thing that I would try is to access the power to the radio. Pull both the battery power and the switchable power (will require pulling 2 different fuses). Leave them out for say 5 minutes and then put them back in. see if that resets the valet mode. Since your car is in the US, you should not have to enter a code to get the radio back on.

 

Are you sure that it is an X351? I didn't think that X351's came with a green key (or were built in '97).
