Default How to get into message center 2012 xj sc

Amber light with exclamation point in it. Bottom right of dash. Warning message on dash adaptive dynamics something. How do you get into the message center to see exactly what the problem is ? Thanks for any help

These early X351 models don't provide much detail to the owner beyond cautionary icons. To dig deeper, an OBD2 scanner is required. Local big box auto parts and service stores will scan your car at no cost, but they're likely to reveal only generic or "top level" codes. A specialist shop or JLR dealer has access to more detailed information. BTW, I've had great luck with Hunt Valley EuroCar on York Rd. Many of their techs have JLR dealer experience.

There's really no substitute for experts that have hand-on experience with the make and model of car you are bringing in for diagnosis or repair. You'll read many tales of woe from members of this forum that have paid handsomely to train otherwise good mechanics on the intracacies and specifics of the XJ.

Lastly, you can purchase an inexpensive scanner for this purpose. I like my Autel HT200, which comes with free software for one vehicle. Additional vehicles may be added at extra cost, but these additions expire annually. You'll need a smart phone or tablet and Internet to use this scanner. This scanner can also reset the oil change and service interval reminders. Unlike later cars, performing this task requires an additional device, not merely a sequence of button pushes.
