2014 XJL 3.0

I would like to be able to start my car, exit the car, then lock the car with the engine running and return to my house while the car runs. Seems simple but the car won't lock using the fob when it's running. What's the trick?

Can't be done; at least not electronically. The only two workarounds I can think of are:
Lock all the doors while inside the vehicle. Open and exit the drivers door. Use the metal emergency key to lock the drivers door. Might work?
Install a remote start system. Search this forum. Some have reported success, others say it's unavailable anywhere.
