Default I bought the wrong Caliper covers

I bought and modded a set of black MGP caliper covers with "JAGUAR" and leaper engraving but they are the wrong size for my car. They will fit any Jaguar without the larger big brakes. The model of the covers are 41003.

I modded them by cutting the allen heads off bolts and to epoxy them onto the covers to hide the hideous fake bolts that come painted on the covers.

The modification cost me almost an additional $100 but make the covers look so much more realistic.

The best benefit of the covers is that not only do they look great on our cars but that they prevent the God Awful brake dust from building up on our wheels. I don't know if you've noticed but the brake pads used by Jag create tons of dust.

Guess what? I have white wheels!

Anyways, send me a private message to score these covers I have and remember, these fit Jags with the normal brakes and not the Supercharged models with the big brake factory kit.

Wow, what a totally neat idea: cutting the heads off Allen head bolts and epoxying them to the caliper covers to replace the "make believe" (and totally unbelievable) simulated bolt heads on these calipers. You are the man!

I couldn't get myself to put on brake covers with fake bolts. I would probably order the covers with only the Jaguar logos and no fake bolts. I completely understand how you feel. I really liked the looks of the prior Jaguar models silver/gold brembo R calipers. Too bad I can't figure out how to swap them over.

As I said I'm not trying to pretend I have Brembos, I simply want to keep dust off my wheels and add a bit of color

Default Here's how they look modded

Pics with allen heads, first $200 + shipping gets em!

Just so you know what a DYI would cost you...

Covers $199
(22) 5/16" Bolts $1.29 each
$50 for machine shop to shave bolts
epoxy $9
acetone for clean up $4
hour bolt installation

These will fit any NA Jag x351, and possibly earlier models without the BBK.

Just so you know, I have ordered the correct caliper kit for my car and plan to do the same mod again on my new ones as they make that much of a difference.

They are the ones installing them so I guess they don't have an issue with it.

My appointment at Jaguar is May 20th. I was scheduled for earlier but as I was verifying the parts I realized the rear calipers were missing so I have to have those special ordered. Just waiting for them to arrive. On another note I am picking up my car in an hour with the OEM Rear Spoiler, Black grill with red growler, and front air dam.

I'm assuming you're talking the same MGP covers right?

You saw them at the dealership parts dept? (You said you bought them from Jaguar)

did they mark them way up? (You shouldn't pay more than $199 for the leaper engraved ones and $179 for the ones that say "MGP")

Be careful, what are they charging you for the install? (You could just go to a mom/pop tire ship, give em $50 for the install. (super easy)

I'm sure Jag will ream you real good. (i would never use a dealer for something like this)

What did they cost?

what does installation cost?

are the XJR brakes the same as the Supercharged brakes - add color?

Can you just buy calipers or aren't the rotors bigger as well needing entire brake set?

Almost 4K for all the parts with the brake pad kits. The rotor are on the Supercharged and XJR are 380mm so no need for new rotors. Installation is going to cost around 500 euro. I bought the parts for a Jaguar dealership in the US and have them shipped over hear in Germany as they are cheaper in dollar than they are in euro.

So you're not going from reg brakes to BB, You're going from SC brakes to XJR brakes.....

Are you going to get your $5k worth?

Were there any aftermarket options?

I looked at the Brembo website to see their Jag offerings and see that all they list are parts for base and Portfolio editions. What this says to me is either they designed or consulted the BB for Jag as Brembo often does, or the Brembos offering simply doesn't improve upon the oem BB Jag offers.

I am unclear as to whether XJR offers anything over SC brakes other than color right? Am I off base?
