Default Interior lights blinking at vmax?

Hi All,

I drove several times the XK to Vmax but never the XJ (5.0 NA).

Now last week I was in Germany on an empty highway cruising quietly at 180 KM\H when a Porsche and a Ferrari went by much faster so I decided to follow them… I could not keep up with them, but spend some time at vmax trying and noticed the interior central lights began to blink… is this a standard feature? I never heard about it…

I have nothing to contribute except to say that I'm very jealous of the ability to go triple digit speeds without risking a prison sentence. I have buried the needle a few times and the car was remarkably stable and unbothered.

Not sure what vmax is but I have driven my 2014 XJR to around 180 mph. Dead solid with no problems of any kind. It was still accelerating.
Speedometer goes to 190 mph so I still have not buried the speedo!

Thanks for the answers so far.
Vmax is short for maximum speed, which is limited electronically to 250 KM/H (155MPH) on European XJs.
Car drove perfectly well and very smoothly at that speed for 10 minutes until there was some more traffic on the highway, even easier to pilot at that speed than the XK; my question was simply to know if the fact the interior lights begin to blink when the speed limiter activates is a documented feature as I had never read about this and as on the XK there is no such blinking.

Thanks Vasara.
Looks like I definitely have to test this again to confirm the symptoms … 😉😁

Perhaps your alternator and/or regulator is getting worn, high RPM can often instigate issues like that.
