Default Introduction & new XJ SC owner

Hi guys, new here but have been on many other forums for many years. Mostly owned German cars/SUVs, had a few Land Rovers and a couple Italians over the last 20 years but recently went decidedly British and bought AM DB9 and last week a 2011 XJ SC. The XJ SC has never officially had an owner b/c the original dealer (Checkered Flag in VA) sold it at auction this past Feb to a Las Vegas dealer who my wife and I bought it from. It has ~1650 miles, black with black and a black headliner (a must for us). I had a friend in LV go look at the car and take it for a spin. He reported back that it was tight, clean and a very nice car. I do not have the car yet, awaiting an Intercity truck coming from the west coast with an open spot.

All these posts about issues have me a little nervous about what I've just gotten myself into. I'm hoping some of these posts are from owner's who have had issues coming here for support, for information or to vent. I have noticed where some of the OPs post a problem or an issue and may post 1 or 2 more times and then they're gone. I know from other fourms that these places are where issues get vented and rarely do you see a post from those whom have had no issues...... The vocal minority? I'm hoping.

Here's hoping for good karma on this one....

You just bought the car that I'm hoping to be able to buy in about two years -- keep me in mind when you're ready to sell! LOL

Congrats on the car. Had my supersport for a few months and 3000 miles. To date, not a single issue with the car as I'd also suspect is the case with the vast majority of the owners.

Welcome. I wouldn't worry about the negative posts--as you stated, most forums get their share of naysayers. I have over 25,000 miles on mine and the only problem I've had was the dreaded roof popping but my dealer got that fixed in the first couple of months via the TSB's from Jaguar. Overall I'm very satisfied with the car and it gets more envious looks than any other sedan I've owned in the past, including a Maserati QP.

I must tell you, we do not have a history of keeping cars that long... I'd like this to be the exception as it gets to be an expensive proposition when you buy/sell as much as we have. Nice thing is the warranty just started in Feb so almost a full 5 years.

Nice car you have! We also looked for London Tan over black but couldn't find one with the right miles and a black headliner.

^^ opps, wrong car. Thanks HouTexJag! Love the color combo on your SS!!

We actually had a deal worked out on a 2011 SS with ~150 miles at $86k and decided we'd dive in at a little lower level and maybe the next one might be the SS.

I love mine. So far after 11k miles, no problems other than the roof pop, which it's minor for me.
I really perseverated over my purchase because of the complaints on this board.....it got really ugly at times with disgruntled buyers and trolls, but I'm really glad that I ignored the naysayers and pulled the trigger. I'm very happy with no real problems.

Congrats on the purchase! We've been driving it non-stop and have enjoyed it problem free!
