Default Jaguar for sale Engine Knock Question

Local Jaguar for sale 2017 Jaguar XJL 168kms asking price $11500 CAD with engine knocking sound does this sound like rod knock or could it be something else??

ad says "(ENGINE KNOCKING)Engine needs repairs, fully loaded XJL,suppercharged,3.0L engine,panoramic sunroof,navigation,camera,parking sensors,leather,car runs and drives,"

Please stop creating new threads. You have over 20 on the first two pages of this forum alone.

Yes, that's archetypical engine knock. It won't be running for long and will trash its crankshaft in the process. An engine rebuild is worth more than the car. Do not buy it, it's scrap.

It does sound like rod knock, and as said above the engine is toast. Rod knock is almost always caused by either lack of lubrication or dirt. Either one of those problems would have caused damage throughout the engine, so you won't get a quick fix by replacing some bearings.

It was probably run out of oil by an owner that didn't ever check the oil level through the dash and there was some minor issue causing oil loss.
